Jodi had left the gallery early, ignoring the people attempting to stop her. Now she turned into the Cafe she recognised, hiding herself in a corner, clearly not in a good mood.
She settled with a sigh, her blonde hair falling into bright browny-blue eyes, her outfit clean but crumpled. She moved to pull out a notepad, angrily scribbling something down, wondering if she'd find anything to make today even remotely bearable. She sighed and looked up, eyes settling on the owner, a small smile meeting her lips.
Maybe today would be okay for her for once. She turned the page in her notepad, writing something out.

Marina had watched the blonde come in, settling in the corner and taking out a note book. Marina make her way over, apron on and she was clearly working with the customers today. her dark brown hair was pulled into a pin, holding it off her face and her brown eyes sparkled.
"How can I help you?" She asked, her accent heavy on her words.

Jodi looked up slowly, smiling slightly, unable to hear the words but sensing the accent slightly, the change in air pressure guiding her. She hesitated then signed a careful. ' I... wouldn't mind a tea?" The question mark was unsigned, just hanging slightly in the air, the unasked 'can you understand?' clear.

A smile graced Marina's lips, and she gave a little curtciy. 'At your service.' She signed back, almost fluently. She could read better than she could reply, but have her aunt mute when she was growing up had helped.
'Tea, on the house.'

Jodi flushed slightly and smiled gratefully. 'Thank you.' She paused then added. 'Do you have a few moments to spare?'

Marina looked around the cafe, seeing it wasn't very busy. She nodded. 'Sure. What do you need?'

'Just a bit of company really.' Jodi signed back, carefully, shifting over a little and inclining her head toward the empty seat, invitingly. She looked back down to her note and sketch, adding a little more to it, keeping it rough but tidy, noting the eyes colour and hair, trying not to make it too obvious how attractive she thought Marina actually was.

Marina smiled, sitting down and relaxing , even if only for a little bit. 'What are you drawing?' Asked Marina curiously, leaning over.

Jodi smiled and hid the drawing a little. 'Just someone I saw.' She teased, relaxing a little more in Marina's company, for a bad day... it seemed like it could go right.

Marina chuckled, thanking the waiter as the tea arrived, a coffee for herself. She handed the tea to Jodi gently, smirking as the woman skillfully hid the notebook just out of her reach.

Jodi smiled, moving the notebook from her lap as she took the tea, smiling gently at Marina, pausing to sip the tea before signing. 'You get many artists coming in here?' She already knew about Marina's exes, seemed like the woman was okay though, at least they hadn't broken her completely. She took another sip of the tea then set the cup down, picking a smaller canvas out of her bag, starting to copy the art onto it, outlining the woman, confident Marina wouldn't know yet.
She soon moved to find her coloured pencils, working first on the dark hair and eyes, then the skin, finishing with the shirt, signing her name in red ink, turning the art over to write something on the back.
(( To the lovely Marina, thank you for rescuing a bad day from the dumpster, Jodi L. XX))

Marina took the canvas carefully, holding it as she looked over it. She smiled. "Wow, this is beautiful." She said without thinking.

Jodi smiled, careful to touch Marina's cheek lightly, turning her face back up to hers. 'If I can't see what you're saying I won't understand.' she signed carefully, pausing to add. 'As for beautiful... art is what the muse herself makes it.'

Marina mentally gave herself a beating for being so careless, but had to repress a grin when Jodi indirectly called her beautiful. "Thank you."

Jodi smiled softly. 'Your welcome Marina.' She took her time looking Marina over again, steadily returning her eyes to Marina's before posing the question 'Do you have anyone special?'
